“Specialist engineering consultancy, Hexa, has expanded its capabilities and launched a new arm of the business covering ground engineering with the appointment of new director Matt Lomas.
He joins the team with more than 16 years’ industry experience and will now be heading “Hexa Land”.
The focus will be on helping clients solve complex environmental challenges related to brownfield sites; an area of huge development potential for landowners, but that requires specialist insight.
Lomas’s experience involves analysis and investigation of contaminated land, providing site assessments and due diligence within brownfield investigations.
He has supported project planning and management of operational contamination risks along with pragmatic and holistic geotechnical design.
Within his previous roles, he has covered ground engineering for development projects in the public and private sector as well as waste management and reuse of materials and environmental audits.
He said: “This is both an exciting personal career move for me as well as a natural evolution for Hexa.Â
“I am eager to bring my experience and passion to this new venture and support this already brilliant business.
“My aim is to provide development focused, pragmatic geo-consultancy, helping to unlock difficult sites and promote sustainable brownfield development.
“Having spent 17 years in larger consultancies, I felt like now was the time for a new challenge and with Hexa, I have an opportunity to really shape my role and have ownership over this new team.
“I am keen to find collaborative and progressive people who fit well within the Hexa culture to support this growth.”
Hexa solidified its presence in the North last year, taking up residency at Studio 22 at 46 The Calls, Leeds, following the appointment of director Richard Osbond in late 2022.
Founding director, James Garment, said: “Expanding our services was always an ambition for Hexa, and now with Matt joining us, we can take those next steps into making Hexa Land a reality.
“It’s great to continue building our Leeds-based team too, and I know Matt will be a fantastic addition as well as helping to bring in more talented recruits.
“People are at the heart of what we do, and as well as Matt’s geo-environmental experience, he embodies our culture for prioritising clients and delivering on sustainability.”
